For a leading law firm, I am looking for an Associate with 1 to 4 years' experience in corporate criminal law. Fluent in French or Dutch, with excellent command of the other language and good knowledge of English.
The firm is a leading independent business law firm based in Brussels. Its White-Collar Crime and Compliance Practice focuses on criminal law in the context of business activities.
The team assists its clients in complex (actual or potential) criminal proceedings as well as in sanction proceedings conducted by other supervisory authorities. It represents both (alleged) offenders and victims of criminal offences during all phases of (criminal) investigations as well as in criminal and civil enforcement proceedings in a wide range of areas such as insider trading and market abuse, bankruptcy offences, corporate and tax fraud, anti-money laundering, public and private corruption, breach of environmental or health and safety regulations, auditing regulations, criminal offences in violation of social security and employment legislation, improper accounting practices, other corporate and individual misconduct, etc. The team also advises companies on various criminal law aspects of business activities and supports them in the drafting and implementation of internal policies.
It works with large Belgian and multinational companies across various industries, such as finance, automobile, oil, food and telecommunications. The team also advises and assists SMEs, high-profile individuals, non-profit entities and public bodies. It combines solid legal expertise with a pragmatic, hands-on approach and works closely with other practice groups within the firm.
As an Associate, you will be involved in a wide range of matters, from start to finish, across various legal areas. The firm has a notable focus on anti-money laundering and environmental infringement litigation, its litigators collaborating regularly with regulatory experts in its wider practice teams. Other areas of strength for the firm include criminal tax litigation and employment disputes.
You will therefore collaborate regularly with colleagues from other practice groups.
