For the International Council of the Belgian Notariat (CINB-IRBN), I am looking for a Legal Advisor - Regulatory Affairs. Fluent in French with good knowledge of Dutch and English.

The International Council of the Belgian Notariat (CINB-IRBN) was founded in 2002 by the Federation of Notaries (Fednot) and the National Chamber of Notaries. It contributes to the promotion and defence of the interests of the civil law notary profession with European and international Institutions.
CINB-IRBN is a relatively small organisation with a dynamic, open, multilingual and collaborative culture. Its offices are located in the ‘House of Notaries’ in the centre of Brussels, close to the central station and the Grand Place.
Functie
As a Legal Advisor - Regulatory Affairs, you will contribute to the smooth running of the notarial profession in Europe and defend the interests of Belgian notaries in particular at European and international level. You will monitor specific regulatory and legal files and analyse their impact on the notary profession. You will regularly inform the relevant stakeholders of the progress and results of these files and advise on the strategy to be followed. More specifically, you will:
- Gather and analyse regulatory and strategic information relating to European legislative/regulatory files, mainly concerning IT and data governance
- Monitor the process of implementing European and international legislation at national level, in collaboration with the Legal and IT departments
- Contribute to compliance and risk management projects
- Interact with notaries' federations in different countries (national, European and international) working on IT and data governance issues
- Prepare meetings with the relevant units of the European institutions and foreign notarial institutions and intervene at these meetings in order to defend the interests of the Belgian notariat
- Participate in seminars and other events and projects in Belgium and abroad (within the European Union), including steering committees of European co-financing projects in cooperation with other notarial institutions
- Communicate the progress of the files and projects to Belgian notaries, i.e. through articles in professional journals, presentations at events and meetings, etc.
Profiel
- You hold a Belgian master’s degree in law and, preferably, an additional master's degree in European Law
- You have some initial legal experience, preferably in IT and data governance. Experience or knowledge of competition law is a plus
- You have excellent communication skills and are willing to participate actively in meetings
- You enjoy working in a multilingual environment and are willing to travel abroad occasionally
- You are fluent in French and have a good knowledge of Dutch and English. Knowledge of another European language is an asset
